Tragic Crash on Highway 45 Kills Pedestrian

Pedestrian Killed in Late-Night Crash on Gulf Freeway in Houston

Houston, TX (June 4, 2025) — Houston police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash on Highway 45 that happened late Monday night.

Authorities said the collision happened in the 3400 block of the Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) at around 9:40 p.m. on June 1 as a silver Nissan Sentra traveled southeast and began exiting toward Scott Street.

During the exit, a pedestrian attempted to cross the roadway and was struck by the vehicle.

Emergency responders with the Houston Fire Department pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Officials have not yet released the victim’s identity, pending notification of the family by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Investigators said the driver remained at the scene, showed no signs of impairment, and cooperated with officers before being released.

The Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division continues to investigate the incident.
