Tacoma Crash on Tideflats Leaves One Dead, One Hospitalized

Tacoma, WA (January 24, 2026) — Tacoma police responded Wednesday evening to a crash on Portland Avenue that killed one person and sent another to the hospital.

According to authorities, the vehicle struck a utility pole at Portland Avenue East and St. Paul Avenue around 6:42 p.m.

Authorities pronounced one occupant dead at the scene, while the other was hospitalized in unknown condition.

Portland Avenue remains closed between Lincoln Avenue and St. Paul Avenue as investigators work at the scene.
