Tragic Crash on South White Road Kills Pedestrian

Woman Killed in San Jose Crosswalk Crash Near Mt. Pleasant High School

San Jose, CA (April 10, 2026) — On Wednesday night, a woman lost her life after a pedestrian crash on South White Road near Mt. Pleasant High School in San Jose.

San Jose police responded to the intersection of South White Road and Mt. McKinley Drive at about 8:09 p.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian-involved crash. First responders transported the woman to a hospital with critical injuries. Despite medical efforts, she later died, authorities confirmed later that night.

Investigators determined that the driver of a light-colored 2005 Toyota minivan was turning onto southbound White Road from Mt. McKinley Drive when the vehicle hit the woman as she crossed eastbound within a marked crosswalk. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police during the investigation.

Officials have not yet released the victim’s identity. The fatal incident marks the 12th traffic-related death and the fifth pedestrian fatality in San Jose this year.
