Pregnant Woman and Unborn Child Killed in Independence Crash

Independence, MO (September 22, 2026) — On Saturday night, a pregnant woman and her unborn child died after a tragic crash on Walnut Street.

Authorities say that the crash happened around 8:40 p.m. near Dodgion Street in Independence, Missouri.

Police said a westbound 2018 Jeep Renegade lost control and struck the woman, a young child, and several parked vehicles. The woman and child were taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced the woman and her unborn baby dead. The child suffered minor injuries.

The Jeep driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The crash remains under investigation.
