Christian County Deputy and Wife Killed in Head-On Crash with Suspected Impaired Driver
Highlandville, MO (July 1, 2025) – A tragic head-on collision on Melton Road near Highlandville claimed the lives of off-duty Christian County Deputy Sheriff Mike Adams and his wife, Ashley, on Monday night.
Officials say that the crash occurred around 8:50 p.m. when a suspected impaired driver, who had just fled from another deputy during a traffic stop attempt, collided with their vehicle.
Authorities say that deputy Adams, 52, rode as a passenger while his wife drove. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Their four-month-old grandchild, who was also in the vehicle, remains hospitalized.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Major Crash Investigation Unit continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash. Deputy Adams, a U.S. Air Force veteran, joined the Christian County Sheriff’s Office in November 2022 and served in the Patrol Division. He had previously worked with the Scott County and Mississippi County Sheriff’s Offices.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fellow officers mourning the loss of Deputy Mike Adams and his wife, Ashley. May their legacy of service and love live on, and may their loved ones find strength and healing in this time of unimaginable sorrow.
