Quincy, WA (December 12, 2024) On Tuesday evening, a tragic head-on crash on Road 5 NW claimed a life and officials say that this is the 2nd fatal crash that day.

According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the fatal incident happened at about 6 p.m. at the intersection with Road T-NW.

Reports say that two tragic crashes struck Grant County on Tuesday evening, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries.

Authorities say that the first crash occurred near Quincy at the intersection of Road 5-NW and Road T-NW around 6:00 p.m.

A head-on collision between two vehicles initiated the incident, with a third vehicle crashing into the wreckage.

Emergency responders confirmed one individual died at the scene, while another was hospitalized with injuries. Two others involved escaped unharmed.

Authorities temporarily closed roads at the intersections of Road 5-NW/SR281 and SR28/Road U-NW to investigate the crash, keeping closures in place until approximately 10 p.m. Further details are expected as the Motor Traffic Unit continues its investigation.

Earlier that day, around 4:00 p.m., another three-car collision occurred on Highway 243 near Mattawa. This crash also claimed one life and left another person seriously injured.
