CLAY COUNTY, TX (April 14, 2026) – Monday night, a tragic hit-and-run crash on Interstate 35 and Edgar Petty Road killed one person.

The incident happened at around 7:10 a.m. on Interstate 35 and Edgar Petty Road.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle struck a man, then fled the scene without stopping to provide aid.

Moreover, responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Furthermore, officers confirmed that a person of interest is in custody.
