Mother and Child Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 45 in Houston

Houston, TX (March 24, 2025) – A deadly multi-car collision on I-45 early Monday morning, claimed the lives of a mother and her 10-year-old son and injured several others.

According to authorities, the tragic incident happened around 1 a.m. near Memorial Drive.

Reports say that a wrong-way driver on I-45 South caused the devastating crash. Authorities say that an unidentified driver traveled in the wrong direction.

The crash involved three vehicles, leaving two dead and five injured, including the wrong-way driver.

One vehicle carried a family of four—a mother, father, 10-year-old boy, and young girl.

Emergency responders transported them to the hospital, where the mother and son succumbed to their injuries. The father and daughter remain in serious condition.

Another vehicle carried a woman believed to be two months pregnant and a male passenger. She is expected to recover, while he sustained minor injuries.

Authorities closed all southbound lanes of I-45 at I-10 for several hours before reopening the roadway around 5:45 a.m.
