24-Year-Old Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 5 in Fresno

Fresno, CA (December 4, 2024) On Monday morning, a 24-year-old man lost his life after a tragic rear-end collision on Interstate 5.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the fatal crash happened at about 12:05 a.m. on Interstate 5.

Reports say that the tragic crash involved a 2025 Volvo tractor-trailer, traveling northbound at around 60 mph, that failed to slow down. The vehicle struck the rear of a 2011 Subaru Outback, which had been stopped behind a stationary 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer.

Authorities say that the force of the impact pushed the Subaru into the back of the Freightliner. A 24-year-old passenger in the Subaru, who was not wearing a seatbelt, tragically died at the scene.

The Subaru’s driver and four other passengers sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Meanwhile, the drivers of the Volvo and Freightliner, along with the Volvo’s passenger, were unharmed.
