Tragic Rollover Crash on Highway 99 Claims a Life [Madera County, CA]

Madera County, CA (November 9, 2025) — On Friday morning, a 52-year-old woman from Madera died after being ejected from a vehicle during a rollover crash on Highway 99.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 9:30 a.m. on the southbound lanes of Highway 99, just north of Avenue 11.

Investigators said a maroon Chevrolet Suburban driven by a Chowchilla woman was traveling behind a Chevrolet Malibu when the Malibu stopped suddenly due to traffic congestion. The Suburban, unable to slow down in time, crashed into the rear of the Malibu.

The impact caused the Suburban to veer into the center median, overturn, and come to rest on its wheels, partially on a metal guardrail. During the crash, the 52-year-old passenger—who was not wearing a seatbelt—was ejected and died at the scene.

The driver of the Malibu and another passenger from the Suburban were hospitalized for treatment. The investigation remains ongoing.
