Tragic Single-Vehicle Crash on Gulf Freeway Kills 1

1 Person Dead in League City Auto Accident on Gulf Freeway

LEAGUE CITY, TX (August 9, 2023) – Tuesday morning, a tragic single-vehicle crash on Gulf Freeway killed one person.

The incident happened at around 4:35 a.m. in the 1100 block of S. Gulf Freeway on the northbound feeder road.

According to reports, a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed lost control for still unknown reasons, veered off the roadway, and struck a power pole and a light pole, which split the vehicle in half. Then, the force of the crash ejected two front occupants of the vehicle into the roadway.

Moreover, responders transported three people, all teens, to a local hospital where the 17-year-old driver was later pronounced dead. Also, the 18-year-old front-side passenger sustained critical injuries while the 16-year-old male backseat passenger, sustained minor injuries.

At this time, the cause of the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
