Driver Killed in Crash Involving Albuquerque Police Officer on Isleta Pueblo

Albuquerque, NM (July 28, 2026) — A driver died Thursday afternoon after a vehicle collision on NM 47 involving an Albuquerque Police Department officer responding to an active law enforcement operation on Isleta Pueblo.

According to police, the officer was on the way to assist with the arrest of a suspect during an ongoing investigation when the crash happened near N.M. 47 and Isleta Lakes Road, north of Isleta Resort & Casino.

The other driver suffered fatal injuries and died as a result of the collision. The officer was not injured.

Officials have not released the identities of those involved or disclosed whether the officer was using emergency lights and sirens at the time of the crash.

The New Mexico State Police is investigating the incident.
