12-Year-Old Girl Dies After Single-Vehicle Crash in Rural Yakima County

Yakima County, WA (July 9, 2026) — A 12-year-old girl lost her life after a single-vehicle crash on Pumphouse Road in rural Yakima County late Thursday night.

According to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and emergency crews responded around 11:08 p.m. on July 2 after receiving an iPhone crash alert regarding a crash on Pumphouse Road. While en route, dispatchers also received a report of a one-vehicle collision involving injuries.

When deputies arrived, they found the young passenger had been ejected from the SUV and was lying in the roadway. She was flown to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Authorities said the 31-year-old woman driving the SUV also suffered injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
