Bryan Granillo Arrested After 6-Vehicle Crash on Highway 36 in Adams County

Adams County, CO (June 29, 2025) – A trooper and a highway worker sustained injuries in a six-vehicle crash on Highway 36.

A six-vehicle crash in Adams County early Sunday morning sent a Colorado Department of Transportation contractor and a state trooper to the hospital, and authorities have since arrested a man now facing multiple charges in connection with the incident.

Just before 2 a.m., 28-year-old Bryan Granillo drove eastbound on Highway 36 near Pecos Street and struck a Colorado State Patrol cruiser from behind, pinning a highway worker in the process. 

According to Colorado State Patrol, Granillo then attempted to flee the scene.

A second trooper intervened by executing a “tactical vehicle intervention” to stop Granillo’s vehicle. Officers arrested Granillo on the spot and transported him to the Adams County Jail.

Granillo, a resident of Commerce City, now faces several charges, including DUI, felony eluding, and failure to remain at the scene of a crash.

Authorities confirmed that Granillo has a history of motor vehicle offenses. 

Earlier this month, he was involved in two separate cases in Thornton—one for DUI and careless driving, and another for DUI and reckless driving. He also faced a charge for driving under restraint in Golden just last month.

The trooper injured in the crash has been identified as Miguel Jeronimo Baez, a seven-year veteran of the Colorado State Patrol.

Both Baez and the highway worker received medical treatment and have since been released from the hospital.
