Tru Nguyen Killed in Pedestrian Accident on South White Road [San Jose, CA]

82-Year-Old San Jose Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle near Rocky Mountain Drive

SAN JOSE, CA (September 6, 2018) – An 82-year-old man was killed following a pedestrian accident on South White Road. The victim was later identified as Tru Nguyen, a resident of San Jose.

According to San Jose police, the incident took place at about 9:05 PM near Rocky Mountain Drive. Nguyen was walking eastbound in the crosswalk near the intersection when he was struck by a 2011 Honda CRV.

The elderly victim was rushed to a nearby hospital after he sustained critical injuries. Unfortunately, Nguyen succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead two days after the incident.

Authorities confirmed that the 28-year-old woman driving the CRV remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Alcohol and drugs were ruled out as possible contributing factors; however, an investigation is still ongoing to determine the main cause of the collision.Anyone with information about the accident is encouraged to contact Detective Kevin Pham of the San Jose Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit at (408) 277-4654.
