One Hospitalized After Crash on Panama Avenue Near Deterding Elementary in Carmichael

Carmichael, CA (November 12, 2025) — Two young girls were injured in a vehicle-pedestrian crash on Panama Avenue outside Deterding Elementary School on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District and California Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. in the 3100 block of Panama Avenue. 

Authorities report the girls were crossing from the west to the east shoulder of Panama Avenue near the school when they were struck by a vehicle traveling southbound from Stanley Avenue.

Emergency responders from multiple agencies rushed to the scene. One of the girls was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. 

The second girl also sustained minor injuries but was not hospitalized. 

Officials confirmed the driver, a man in his 30s, remained at the scene and tested negative for DUI.

CHP North Sacramento Division is leading the investigation into the incident.
