NTSB Investigates Fatal Plane Crash Near Alamorgodo

ALAMOGORDO, NM (November 27, 2025) — A tragic plane crash near Alamogordo claimed the lives of two individuals this week, New Mexico State Police confirmed Thursday.

Authorities were first alerted to a missing private aircraft around 5:17 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26. 

A comprehensive search effort was quickly launched, involving multiple agencies including the Otero County Sheriff’s Office, Alamogordo Police Department, local fire departments, emergency services, and federal forest rangers.

The wreckage of the aircraft was discovered the following morning, Thursday, November 27, at approximately 10:17 a.m. in a remote area. 

According to law enforcement, the aircraft was completely burned, and both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has taken over the investigation to determine the cause of the crash. 

At this time, the identities of the victims have not been released, and no further details have been disclosed about the flight path or potential contributing factors.
