San Diego Man and El Cajon Woman Die After Crash on Lakeview Road in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA (September 28, 2026) — Two people died after a motorcycle left the roadway and collided with a tree in a crash on Lakeview Road early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at approximately 2:20 a.m. on Lakeview Road, west of Adlai Road.

According to CHP, a 41-year-old San Diego man was riding a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Lakeview Road with a 33-year-old woman from El Cajon riding as a passenger.

For reasons that remain under investigation, the motorcycle left the roadway and struck a tree. The force of the collision ejected both the rider and passenger from the motorcycle.

Medical personnel responded to the scene and later pronounced both victims dead, CHP said.

Authorities have not released the identities of the victims pending appropriate notification, if applicable.

Investigators have not determined why the motorcycle left the roadway. CHP also has not established whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.

CHP Capt. Michael Monteagudo reminded motorcycle riders that serious crashes can occur even when no other vehicles are involved.

The agency also encouraged riders to operate within their abilities, maintain appropriate speeds, and remain attentive while traveling.

The circumstances surrounding the fatal East County collision remain under investigation.

Sweet Lawyers extends our heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of the deceased. May the bereaved find solace and strength in this extremely trying time.

Wrongful Death Support After a Fatal Motorcycle Crash in San Diego

Losing a loved one in a motorcycle crash can leave families facing an overwhelming combination of grief, unanswered questions, and unexpected financial concerns.

At Sweet Lawyers, we understand that no legal action can erase the pain of losing someone you love. Our wrongful death team approaches families with compassion and respect, helping them understand the resources and legal options that may be available after a fatal accident.

A single-vehicle motorcycle crash can require a careful examination of the circumstances leading up to the collision. Depending on the evidence available, investigators may consider roadway conditions, lighting, weather, motorcycle condition, speed, visibility, witness accounts, physical evidence, and other factors.

Available photographs, video footage, police reports, and medical or investigative records may also provide important information.

In this East County crash, CHP has not determined why the motorcycle left Lakeview Road or whether drugs or alcohol played any role.

Those questions remain part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities’ preliminary findings should not be treated as a final determination of civil liability.

Families may also have questions about funeral and burial expenses, lost financial support, and other losses following the death of a family member.

The legal considerations can vary depending on the circumstances and the relationship between the surviving family members and the person who died.
