Henderson County, TX (February 11, 2026) – Two people died Wednesday evening after an aviation crash on Murchison near Echo Lake, according to authorities.

Sheriff Botie Hillhouse said the crash occurred near Murchison, with emergency calls coming in around 5:13 p.m.

Flight logs show the aircraft departed from the Nacogdoches area at approximately 4:38 p.m.

A preliminary report from the Federal Aviation Administration indicates the crew declared an emergency after oil covered the windshield during flight.

The aircraft diverted toward an airport in the Brownsboro area but struck power lines and crashed short of the runway.

Officials confirmed that the pilot and one passenger died in the crash.

FAA data identifies the aircraft as a 1994 Beech A36 single-engine fixed-wing plane registered to AileRon T LLC, a company based in Orlando, Florida.

The Texas Department of Public Safety and the FAA are investigating the incident.

The National Transportation Safety Board announced that an investigator would arrive by Friday to document the crash site and examine the aircraft before moving it to a secure facility for further evaluation.
