Police Investigate Two Fatal Crashes in Yucca Valley

Yucca Valley, CA (November 6, 2025) — Two devastating crashes in Yucca Valley involving women in electric wheelchairs occurred just hours apart last week, leaving both victims dead. One of the incidents is being investigated as a fatal hit-and-run.

The first crash happened around 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of Airway Avenue and Primrose Drive.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, a vehicle traveling toward Primrose Drive struck a 55-year-old woman as she crossed Airway Avenue in an electric wheelchair.

The impact ejected the woman and her dog from the chair.

The driver fled the scene and was last seen heading south on Airway Avenue toward Yucca Trail.

Paramedics transported the victim to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run driver.

Just hours later, at approximately 6:00 p.m., an 81-year-old woman in an electric wheelchair was struck and killed near Yucca Trail and Frontera Avenue—about a mile from the earlier scene.

In that incident, the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
