Two Killed, Four Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash in Ector County

Ector County, TX (August 17, 2025) – A deadly collision on Knox Avenue Friday night claimed the lives of 32-year-old passenger Tyson Cooper Avery and 61-year-old Juan Manuel Nunez-Quiroz and left four others injured.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the deadly incident happened at the intersection with West University Boulevard.

Reports say that Nunez-Quiroz was driving a Chevrolet 2500 south on Knox Avenue when he failed to stop, his vehicle was then struck by a GMC Yukon traveling west on FM 2020.

Authorities pronounced Nunez-Quiroz and Avery dead at the scene. The crash also injured 34-year-old Rachel Avery and three children inside the Yukon.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
