Vaishali Patel Killed After Pickup Truck Crashes Into Motel [Big Spring, TX]

Big Spring, TX (June 10, 2025) — 46-year-old Vaishali Patel died after a pickup truck crashed into a motel in Big Spring early Friday morning.

According to the Big Spring Police Department, officers responded to the Deluxe Inn in the 400 block of North Gregg Street shortly after 5:00 a.m. and found a 2022 GMC Sierra partially lodged inside the motel’s office area.

Investigators determined that 21-year-old Alonso Moreno was driving south on North Lamesa Street when he failed to stay in his lane, crossed into oncoming traffic, and struck the building.

Authorities identified the victim as Patel, who was inside the motel and sleeping when the truck crashed into the structure. She suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Moreno was transported to Shannon Medical Center for evaluation and treatment before being released. Officials continue to investigate the crash and have not announced whether any charges will be filed.
