Valentin Hernandez of Oceanside Arrested in Mission Avenue Deadly Hit-and-Run Crash [Oceanside, CA]

Oceanside, CA (April 17, 2026) – The authorities arrested 24-year-old Valentin Hernandez of Oceanside following a Mission Avenue deadly hit-and-run crash Thursday.

It was past 5 a.m. when a westbound 2005 Toyota Tacoma driven by Hernandez struck the 76-year-old pedestrian.

Immediately, the authorities responded to the crash scene and declared the pedestrian dead. 

The authorities withheld the pedestrian’s identity pending notification of the family.

Police later found Hernandez’ truck, and later detained him. They booked him into county jail with charges on drunken driving and hit-and-run causing death. 

He is being held on $105,000 bail pending arraignment.
