Pedestrian Killed in Suspected DUI Crash in Farmersville
Tulare County, CA (January 13, 2025) — A suspected DUI crash on Oakland Street on Sunday evening claimed the life of an 87-year-old man and led to the arrest of Valentin Torres.
Officers responded around 5:30 p.m. to reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian in the 600 block of South Farmersville Boulevard near Oakland Street. When police arrived, they found the elderly man lying in the roadway with severe injuries.
Emergency responders provided aid before transporting him to a nearby hospital, where he later died. His identity has not yet been released.
Investigators determined that a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling along South Farmersville Boulevard when it struck the pedestrian.
Police stated the pedestrian entered the roadway and did not yield to the approaching vehicle, leading to the collision with the truck’s front end.
The driver, identified as 38-year-old Valentin Torres of Exeter, remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. Police later determined he was under the influence and arrested him on felony DUI charges.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities urge anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the Farmersville Police Department.
