Three Die After Disabled Vehicle Is Struck by Semi-Truck on US-80 in Kaufman County

Kaufman County, TX (July 28, 2026) — A late-night crash in Kaufman County claimed the lives of 38-year-old Va’Necia Deshun Williams and her daughters after a disabled vehicle was struck by an 18-wheeler on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at approximately 11:30 p.m. on the eastbound side of US-80 near Windmill Farms Boulevard.

Authorities said a 2013 Hyundai, driven by Williams, had become disabled in the right lane of the highway. Williams was inside the vehicle with 14-year-old Sa’Niah and 9-year-old A’veonia Davis.

Investigators said an eastbound semi-truck was unable to avoid the disabled vehicle and crashed into its rear. The impact sent the Hyundai over the bridge’s concrete barrier.

Emergency responders pronounced Williams and both children dead at the scene. The family’s dog, Queenie, also died in the crash.

The collision closed the eastbound lanes of US-80 for several hours while authorities investigated the incident. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
