Impaired Driving Crash on Pacific Highway Kills 19-Year-Old, Teen Driver Charged
Federal Way, WA (January 15, 2025) — A crash on Pacific Highway South in Federal Way claimed the life of 19-year-old Veaceslav Suhatchi and left another person injured, leading to serious criminal charges against an 18-year-old driver.
Authorities, say that the collision happened around 9:30 p.m. in the 36000 block of Pacific Highway South.
Police determined that a northbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck another car head-on.
Medics pronounced a 19-year-old passenger in the first vehicle dead at the scene. The King County Medical Examiner later identified him as Suhatchi and reported that he died from multiple blunt force injuries. The driver of the second vehicle suffered injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
Investigators found that the 18-year-old driver of the first vehicle showed signs of impairment. Officers arrested him on suspicion of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault. He remains in custody at the King County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail as the investigation continues. Prosecutors are expected to review the case for formal charges.
