One Person Hospitalized After Three-Vehicle Crash Involving Fresno School Bus
Fresno, CA (March 5, 2026) — A person suffered minor injuries after a three-vehicle collision on Ashlan Avenue involving a Fresno Unified school bus on Monday afternoon.
Emergency crews responded around 3:20 p.m. to the intersection of Ashlan and Blackstone avenues after receiving reports of a crash involving a school bus and two other vehicles.
Reports say that the collision blocked turn lanes along northbound Blackstone Avenue as first responders arrived at the scene.
Authorities said a person inside one of the cars experienced minor pain and paramedics transported the individual to a hospital for evaluation. No other injuries were reported.
Students riding the Fresno Unified bus remained safe during the incident. Officials kept them calm at the scene before transferring them to another bus so they could continue their trip.
Investigators continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Distracted driving is one of the most common—and most preventable—causes of traffic collisions. It includes anything that takes your attention away from the road, such as texting or talking on your phone, eating or drinking, adjusting the radio, using a navigation system, or even talking to passengers. When your focus shifts away from driving, even for a moment, the risk of a serious crash increases dramatically.
Texting while driving is especially dangerous. Reading or sending a text can take your eyes off the road for about five seconds. At highway speeds, that’s enough time to travel the length of a football field without looking—more than enough for a devastating accident to occur.
Safe driving requires your full attention at all times. Any non-driving activity, no matter how small it seems, can become a deadly distraction. Staying focused behind the wheel protects not only you but also your passengers, pedestrians, cyclists, and everyone else on the road.
Even seemingly minor crashes can cause injuries that require medical attention. Drivers should remain alert, slow down near school buses, and follow traffic rules to protect students and others on the road.
