Two Injured in Rollover Crash on I-70 Eastbound in Boone County
Boone County, MO (July 5, 2025) On Thursday afternoon, a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 resulted in 2 people getting hurt.
According to authorities, the shocking incident happened on eastbound Interstate 70 near the 136.8 mile marker.
Reports say that a single-vehicle crash involving a 2014 Lincoln MKKX shut down eastbound I-70 leading to major traffic delays and hospitalizing two people.
Authorities said the 79-year-old female passenger and 78-year-old male driver, both from Wellsville, were injured when the SUV struck a rail in a construction zone. The impact caused the vehicle to become airborne and overturn, eventually landing on its roof and blocking the eastbound driving lane.
Emergency crews responded shortly after 2:16 p.m. Multiple callers had reported the overturned SUV in the construction area. Firefighters confirmed two occupants at the scene, provided initial care, and transferred both patients to EMS crews. Ambulances transported them to Boone Hospital. Both individuals were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Responding units included firefighters from Boone County and Millersburg Fire Protection Districts, along with EMS teams from Callaway County and MU Health Care. Tow crews removed the vehicle by 4 p.m., but traffic backups persisted for hours.
Drive Safely and Prevent Accidents
Traffic collisions can happen anytime, but their impact lasts a lifetime. Stay alert, avoid distractions, and never drive under the influence. Always wear your seatbelt, obey speed limits, and be mindful of pedestrians and cyclists. Keep a safe distance between vehicles and adjust your speed for road conditions.
If you or a loved one suffers injuries in a rollover crash, don’t face recovery alone. Seek legal and medical support promptly. Stay alert in construction zones and always wear your seatbelt—it saves lives.
