Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway near Atwater Village
LOS ANGELES, CA (July 31, 2019) – A vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian on 5 Freeway near Atwater Village Tuesday morning.
The California Highway Patrol said the crash happened at around 11:30 a.m. The man reportedly walked onto the northbound 5 Freeway near Los Feliz Boulevard when he was struck by a vehicle.
The officers described the victim as a white older male who was homeless.
They issued a SigAlert and closed two freeway lanes south of Los Feliz Boulevard. The CHP also shut down the Glendale Boulevard on-ramp to the northbound 5 Freeway. All lanes reopened at about 2 pm.
Further investigation of the crash is ongoing.
