Three Teens Killed in Crash on Interstate 5 in Anaheim

Anaheim, CA (September 4, 2026) — Victor Hugo Delgado, Robert Miguel Gutierrez-Avalos, and Levi Jacob Flores died, and another person suffered injuries Thursday morning when an SUV crashed off Interstate 5 in Anaheim.

The California Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 3:15 a.m. near the southbound Lincoln Avenue off-ramp. The Ford Edge veered off the freeway south of Euclid Street for unknown reasons, struck a guardrail and a concrete pillar, then overturned down a sloped embankment before coming to rest in brush.

Authorities identified the victims as 17-year-old Victor Hugo Delgado of Santa Ana, 16-year-old Robert Miguel Gutierrez-Avalos of Santa Ana, and 15-year-old Levi Jacob Flores of Garden Grove.

Two victims died at the scene, while two others went to a nearby hospital. Medical personnel later pronounced a third teenager dead. Investigators believe none of the occupants wore seat belts, and a CHP incident log indicated that two victims were ejected during the crash.

The collision temporarily closed the Lincoln Avenue off-ramp and four freeway lanes. Crews reopened some lanes around 5 a.m., with all lanes back open by 8 a.m.
