Driver Vidal Cruz Jr Arrested in Colfax Avenue Deadly DUI Crash [North Hollywood, CA]

North Hollywood, CA (April 13, 2026) – The authorities arrested Vidal Cruz Jr following a Colfax Avenue deadly DUI crash early Sunday morning.

The deadly traffic crash happened at 2:25 a.m. north of Calvert Street.

Police said Cruz Jr was driving a northbound gray Acura on Colfax Avenue, when the vehicle struck a man in his 30s and a woman in her 50s. Troopers said the two victims had just exited a white Toyota Camry when the collision happened.

Afterward, the Acura driven by Cruz Jr also struck the Camry with three occupants. 

The impact of the collision threw the two pedestrians in a northbound direction before they hit the roadway. 

The Acura then drover northeast and onto a private driveway, where it crashed onto several unoccupied parked vehicles. 

Responding officers declared the male pedestrian deceased at the scene, while the female pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where she succumbed her injuries. 

Moreover, the three people inside the Camry sustained minor injuries.

Investigators said that Cruz Jr, who was the only occupant in his vehicle, was driving under the influence of alcohol and at an unsafe speed. They arrested and booked him on suspicion of two counts of murder at the Van Nuys Jail. His bail was set at $4 million.
