Violent 2-Vehicle Crash on Highway 12 Claims a Life [Rio Vista, CA]

Rio Vista, CA (August 16, 2025) On Friday evening, a A 53-year-old man died and four others were injured after a 2-vehicle crash on Highway 12 in Solano County.

The California Highway Patrol said the collision happened shortly after 5 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 113.

Investigators reported that a Toyota, driven westbound by the 53-year-old, lost control and crossed into the eastbound lanes. The car turned perpendicular to the road before a Nissan collided with it.

The Toyota driver died at the scene. Paramedics transported the Nissan’s driver and three passengers to a nearby hospital with injuries of unknown severity. Authorities confirmed everyone involved was wearing seat belts.

CHP said DUI is not suspected for the Nissan driver but noted investigators are reviewing whether impairment played a role for the Toyota driver.

The crash remains under investigation.
