Police Investigate the Highway 50 Crash near Powell Gardens
Pittsville, Mo. — A 71-year-old Warrensburg man suffered life-threatening injuries Wednesday night after he ran into the path of an oncoming vehicle on Highway 50 near Powell Gardens.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) reports that emergency crews were called to the area of Highway 50 and NW 550 Rd., just west of Pittsville, around 10:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, following reports of a crash involving a pedestrian.
First responders found that the 71-year-old man had run directly into the path of a 2008 Infiniti G37. State Troopers noted that the 17-year-old female driver from Kingsville was unable to avoid the man, striking him.
Emergency crews immediately transported the injured man to Research Medical Center in Kansas City for treatment of his severe injuries.
The teen driver was uninjured in the incident, though her vehicle sustained moderate damage.
The MSHP has not released any further information regarding the crash at this time.
