SEATTLE, WA (December 2, 2025) — A Washington State Patrol trooper narrowly avoided serious injury early Tuesday morning after the Interstate 5 Freeway crash.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. as the trooper was investigating a single-vehicle crash on the northbound side of I-5. 

According to authorities, the trooper had already detained a suspected impaired driver and was standing outside his vehicle when a second car suddenly crashed into his parked SUV.

In a split-second move, the trooper managed to jump out of the way just in time. 

Fortunately, only minor injuries were reported, and no one required hospitalization. 

Officials confirmed that the second driver who struck the patrol vehicle showed no signs of impairment.
