54-Year-Old William Brandt Killed in Motorcycle Crash Near Bear Valley Dam [Big Bear Lake, CA]

Big Bear Lake, CA (August 22, 2025) – A motorcycle crash near Bear Valley Dam claimed the life of 54-year-old William Brandt of Fawnskin on Monday evening.

According to authorities, the collision happened around 6 p.m. as Brandt was riding his 2016 Harley-Davidson on Highway 18, approaching Highway 38.

At the same time, a 2023 Volkswagen SUV driven by 35-year-old Sabrina Kearns of San Diego traveled downbound on Highway 38. For reasons still under investigation, the two vehicles collided in the intersection.

The impact ejected Brandt from his motorcycle, and both vehicles caught fire. Despite wearing a helmet, Brandt suffered severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

Kearns sustained minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of DUI before being released on bail pending further legal proceedings.

Brandt, remembered as a devoted husband and father, leaves behind his wife and two children, ages 15 and 18.
