William Carter Dies in Tragic Highway 101 Crash [Grays Harbor County, WA]

Grays Harbor County, WA (July 27, 2026) — A two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 101 in Washington claimed the life of 69-year-old William Carter and injured two others Saturday afternoon.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash happened around 5:45 p.m. near milepost 118. Investigators said William R. Carter was traveling north when he lost control of his vehicle due to driving too fast for road conditions. His vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a southbound vehicle before rolling down an embankment.

Carter was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, a 75-year-old passenger from Aberdeen suffered injuries and was airlifted to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma for treatment. Meanwhile, the 22-year-old driver of the southbound vehicle, a Montesano resident, sustained injuries and drove herself to Summit Pacific Medical Center in Elma.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
