William Gallagher Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Golden Shore [Long Beach, CA]

Long Beach, CA (July 31, 2026) — 60-year-old William Gallagher died two days after a Long Beach Transit bus struck him while he was crossing a street in Long Beach.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Gallagher of Los Angeles. The collision happened around 1:05 p.m. on July 21 in the 400 block of Golden Shore.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the bus was making a left turn onto an access road when it struck Gallagher as he crossed the roadway. Bystanders provided aid until Long Beach Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported him to a hospital in critical condition.

Gallagher succumbed to his injuries on July 23.

Investigators said the bus driver cooperated with the investigation. Authorities do not believe speed, impairment, or distracted driving contributed to the fatal collision. The investigation remains ongoing.
