Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Sonrisa Place NE in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (May 27, 2026)— A woman died after a crash on Sonrisa Place NE when a white Ford truck struck her and crashed into a nearby home on Wednesday morning in Albuquerque.

According to Albuquerque police, a caller reported the vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash around 11:50 a.m. in the 6200 block of Sonrisa Place NE.

The caller told 911 that the vehicle struck a female pedestrian and then crashed into a nearby dwelling. While officers were on the way, dispatchers informed them that the pedestrian was unresponsive and not moving.

Albuquerque Fire Rescue Engine 20 and Rescue 20 responded to the scene. When officers arrived, they found the woman with critical injuries. AFR transported her to a local hospital as a “scoop and run,” indicating life-threatening injuries.

Police later confirmed that the woman died at the hospital from her injuries.

Investigators said the driver of a white Ford truck was dropping off two passengers when the vehicle failed to come to a complete stop. The truck ran over one of the passengers and then crashed into a nearby residence.

Authorities said the truck also appeared to strike a residential gas line. Albuquerque Fire Rescue remained at the scene to monitor the hazard, and New Mexico Gas Company was notified.

Officers blocked Sonrisa Place at Calle Avion NE while they investigated the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Sweet Lawyers extend our heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of the deceased victim. May the bereaved find solace and strength in this extremely trying time.

Compassionate Legal Support After a Fatal Albuquerque Pedestrian Crash

A fatal pedestrian crash is devastating, especially when the victim is struck during what should have been a routine drop-off. Families may be left with shock, grief, medical expenses, funeral costs, and difficult questions about how the vehicle failed to stop and why the tragedy occurred.

When a crash also involves a home and possible gas line damage, the investigation can become even more complex.

At Sweet Lawyers, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the woman who died in this Albuquerque crash.

No legal action can replace a loved one, but a wrongful death claim may help surviving family members seek accountability and financial support for funeral expenses, medical bills, loss of companionship, lost financial support, emotional suffering, and other damages allowed under the law.

Fatal pedestrian crashes require careful investigation. Important evidence may include police reports, witness statements, vehicle inspection findings, roadway or driveway conditions, photos from the scene, surveillance footage, medical records, and emergency response documentation.

Investigators may also review whether driver error, mechanical issues, distraction, improper vehicle control, or other factors contributed to the collision.

Sweet Lawyers helps grieving families navigate wrongful death claims with compassion, professionalism, and respect.

Our team can review available evidence, communicate with insurance companies, and explain legal options clearly so families do not have to manage the process alone during such a painful time.

If your family lost a loved one in a pedestrian crash, vehicle-into-home collision, or other fatal accident, contact Sweet Lawyers for a free consultation.
