Suspect Arrested for DUI After Hit-And-Run Crash on 18th Street in National City

National City, CA (April 19, 2025) – Police arrested a male driver on suspicion of DUI following an alleged hit-and-run crash on 18th Street that injured a woman early Friday morning. 

According to OnScene.TV, the man was driving an Audi with four other male passengers when he reportedly sped through a red light at the intersection of 18th Street and Euclid Avenue around 2:40 a.m.

While running the red light, the Audi allegedly struck the rear of a Honda, which was being driven by another male with a female passenger. 

The impact caused the Honda to crash into a streetlight.

After the crash, the Audi driver allegedly fled the scene on foot. Responding officers from the National City Police Department located and apprehended him several blocks away.

Emergency personnel transported the female passenger to a local hospital after she walked to the stretcher on her own. 

Her current condition remains unknown. The Audi driver and his four passengers did not report any injuries.

Authorities have charged the driver with DUI and hit-and-run violations.
