Police Investigate Fatal Accident on Westheimer Road in Houston
Houston, TX (November 22, 2025) – A tragic pedestrian accident on Westheimer Road claimed the life of a 73-year-old woman early Friday morning on one of Houston’s most dangerous roads.
According to the Houston Police Department, the fatal crash occurred around 6:20 a.m. in the 9500 block of Westheimer Road.
Authorities reported that the woman entered the roadway and was struck by a westbound Dodge Ram truck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told police that a second vehicle also hit the woman after the initial impact. However, that driver fled and did not remain at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge Ram remained and cooperated with officers. Police confirmed the driver showed no signs of intoxication.
This fatality comes just two days after a Washington Post investigation named Westheimer Road one of the deadliest roads for pedestrians in the United States.
From 2021 to 2023, the 3.5-mile stretch recorded 19 pedestrian fatalities—the highest in Houston and among the worst nationwide.
The case remains under investigation, and authorities are seeking information on the hit-and-run driver.
