Police Investigate Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash at Cooper and Merril Roads in Gilbert

GILBERT, AZ (July 17, 2026)— A woman died following a two-vehicle crash at Cooper and Merril roads in Gilbert on the morning of July 17.

Gilbert police officers responded to the intersection of Cooper and Merril roads at approximately 10:00 a.m. 

When emergency personnel arrived, they found one of the drivers trapped and unresponsive inside her vehicle.

Firefighters extricated the woman from the damaged car. Despite emergency response efforts, authorities pronounced her dead at the scene.

The second driver did not report any injuries, according to police.

Investigators closed streets surrounding the crash site for several hours while officers examined the scene and gathered evidence. 

Authorities have since reopened the affected roadways.

Police have not released the deceased woman’s identity or provided additional information about what caused the collision. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
