Police Investigate Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash Near Pojoaque High School
POJOAQUE, NM (May 7, 2026)— A 96-year-old woman died Wednesday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash near Pojoaque High School.
A spokesperson for the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the crash involved two vehicles and resulted in the woman’s death.
Authorities have not released her name because deputies were still notifying her family.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the fatal collision.

Compassionate Support for Families After a Fatal New Mexico Crash
Losing a loved one in a sudden crash is devastating, especially when families receive the news unexpectedly and are left with unanswered questions. A fatal collision near a school or major highway can create confusion, grief, and concern for everyone involved.
During this difficult time, surviving family members may need support with funeral arrangements, insurance matters, medical expenses, and the emotional weight of an unexpected loss.
At Sweet Lawyers, we understand how painful wrongful death cases can be for families. No legal action can ever replace a loved one, but it may help families seek accountability and financial support for the losses caused by a fatal crash.
A wrongful death claim may involve compensation for funeral costs, loss of companionship, lost financial support, medical expenses, and other damages allowed under the law.
Fatal two-vehicle crashes require careful investigation. Important evidence may include sheriff’s reports, witness statements, roadway conditions, vehicle damage, crash scene photographs, traffic patterns, and any available video footage from nearby homes, businesses, or public agencies.
When authorities have not yet released the cause of a crash, reviewing the facts early can help families better understand what happened.
Sweet Lawyers provides compassionate guidance to families dealing with fatal accidents. Our team helps review available information, communicate with insurance companies, and explain legal options clearly and respectfully.
We know grieving families need more than representation—they need patience, understanding, and a team that treats their loss with dignity.
