MORENO VALLEY, CA (April 14, 2022) – Tuesday morning, a construction worker died in a crash on 60 Freeway and Moreno Beach Drive.
 
The incident happened at around 11:15 a.m. on the westbound 60 Freeway, east of Moreno Beach Drive.
 
According to reports, a 2016 Hyundai Sonata driver traveled at a speed of 45 mph in the slow lane. Then, the sedan abruptly veered onto the shoulder and into the dirt. Eventually, the driver struck a working Spectrum Construction Co. crew.
 
“The vehicle struck the worker, who evidently had his back turned to traffic,” Sgt. Steven Rusk said. “He didn’t see the car coming.”
 
Meanwhile, authorities believed that the motorist possibly lost control of the car.
 
When the Riverside County Fire Department paramedics arrived, they declared the man dead at the scene. However, his identity remains undisclosed due to pending family notification.
 
Meanwhile, authorities detained and questioned the motorist. However, they haven’t made any arrests.
 
Rusk added that they found no evidence that the driver was impaired.
 
Due to the limited information available, the crash remains under active investigation.
