Tragic Wrong-Way Collision on Interstate 35 Claims a Life [Harrison County, MO]

Harrison County, MO (September 19, 2025) Early Tuesday morning, a wrong-way collision on Interstate 35 claimed the life of a Smithville woman.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision happened happened around 5:15 a.m., about nine miles north of Eagleville.

Reports say that a 49-year-old man from Peculiar was driving a pickup truck north when he struck an SUV driven by a 64-year-old Smithville woman.

Meanwhile, the SUV, which was stopped without lights on, was hit on the passenger side as the pickup tried to swerve away. The impact forced the SUV off the east side of the highway.

Authorities pronounced the woman dead at the scene. The pickup driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to Harrison County Community Hospital in Bethany.
