Wrong-Way Driver Crashes Into Six Vehicles on FM-2920 in Tomball
Tomball, TX (September 6, 2026) — On Thursday, multiple people were hurt after a wrong-way crash on FM-2920 when a driver crashed into six vehicles during a brief police pursuit.
Harris County deputies received multiple reports around 7:50 p.m. about a Dodge Ram 1500 traveling erratically and driving eastbound in the wrong lanes near FM-2920 and Mueschke Road, north of Highway 99. Witnesses reported the truck forcing vehicles off the road and crossing several lanes.
A deputy later spotted the truck near a Valero gas station and attempted to stop the driver. Instead, the driver fled, leading deputies on a pursuit lasting less than two minutes.
Near Cypress Rose Hill Road, the driver accelerated, entered a ditch, and lost control. The truck then crossed the intersection and struck six vehicles traveling or stopped along FM-2920.
Deputies detained the 53-year-old driver and took him to a hospital. Authorities suspect impairment and said he could face charges for evading police and driving while intoxicated.
Five other people went to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. No deputies suffered injuries. Authorities had not announced when FM-2920 would reopen.
Let’s Drive Safer Together
High-speed crashes can occur in the blink of an eye, but so many are preventable with small, intelligent decisions. Pay attention, don’t get distracted (say, by texting) and never drive after drinking. As ever – obey speed limits, buckle up and keep plenty of room between yourself and other vehicles. These are small enough measures to save lives — including your own.
We can all take steps to help keep our roads safe for ourselves, our families and our communities.
If you see a reckless or wrong-way driver, keep your distance and avoid attempting to intervene. Stay alert, slow down when necessary, and contact authorities when it is safe to do so.
