Wrong-Way Crash on Palmdale Road Kills Woman [Adelanto, CA]

Adelanto, CA (August 20, 2026) — A 71-year-old woman died in a horrific crash on Palmdale Road Tuesday morning after a tractor-trailer crossed into the opposite lane and collided with her Chevrolet Silverado.

The crash happened around 7:37 a.m. on State Route 18, east of Richardson Street. Investigators determined that the 60-year-old semi-truck driver lost control while traveling eastbound and veered into the westbound lanes.

The Silverado driver suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Authorities have not released her identity. The semi-truck driver also sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

The collision forced officials to close Palmdale Road in both directions between Richardson Road/White Road and Aster Road while investigators examined the scene.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team continues to investigate and is seeking witnesses.
