Two People Injured in Fatal Crash on Interstate 25 in Santa Fe

Santa Fe County, NM (November 11, 2025) — A wrong-way driver tragically lost their life after being struck by another vehicle in a crash on Interstate 25 south of Santa Fe Tuesday evening, New Mexico State Police confirmed.

The fatal incident unfolded after the initial crash involving the wrong-way driver. 

Shortly thereafter, the individual exited their vehicle and was struck by an oncoming car. 

Emergency personnel responded swiftly, but despite their efforts, the person succumbed to their injuries. 

Authorities have withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.

Two occupants of the vehicle that struck the individual were also injured in the collision. 

According to State Police spokesperson Officer Amanda Richards, their injuries were not considered serious.

The incident prompted delays on I-25 while law enforcement conducted an investigation and cleared the scene. 

At this time, details regarding the cause of the initial wrong-way crash remain under investigation.
