WSP Officer Hospitalized in I-5 DUI Crash [King County, WA]

2 Injured in King County DUI Collision

King County, WA (October 18, 2025) –  A WSP officer and another driver were injured in an I-5 DUI crash early Thursday morning.

The crash happened around 1 a.m. near the King County–Pierce County line.

The police officer had pulled another vehicle over for a traffic stop. However, a suspected DUI driver crashed onto the trooper and the driver he stopped while they were sitting on the roadside.

Both the officer and driver were rushed to a nearby hospital with non-serious injuries and have been released to recover at home.

The suspected DUI driver, on the other hand, was arrested, and jailed into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence.

When we’re behind the wheel, we’re not just driving for ourselves—we’re part of a larger community that shares the road. That’s why it’s so important to drive responsibly, stay alert, and respect the rights of others. Safe driving doesn’t just protect you; it protects your family, neighbors, and even strangers traveling alongside you.

Together, we can reduce the number of traffic collisions and create safer roads for everyone. Let’s commit to driving with care, staying focused, and taking responsibility for our actions.

And remember: seatbelts save lives. Whether you’re the driver or a passenger, buckling up is one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent serious injury in a crash.

Even brief distractions or changes in elevation can reduce reaction time on the road. Stay alert and maintain a safe distance to prevent rear-end collisions.
