Motorcyclist Yeriel Rodriguez Mercado Dies in Collision on Highway 290 [Houston, TX]

Houston, TX (September 4, 2024) – Yeriel Rodriguez Mercado, 19, was fatally injured in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 290 late Saturday night.

It was about 11 p.m. when Yeriel Rodriguez Mercado, was speeding west in a green Kawasaki motorcycle.

The accident report stated he was weaving in and out of traffic when he struck a white Nissan Murano and was ejected from the motorcycle. 

However, when he attempted to stand up, a white Jeep had struck him. The driver of the Jeep did not stop to help the victim but fled the scene.

When the Houston Fire Department crew arrived, they declared Yeriel Rodriguez Mercado dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the 20-year-old woman driving the Murano remained at the crash scene and she was determined not to be under the influence.
