Two Young Women Killed in Wrong-Way Crash Near George, Washington

George, WA (August 9, 2026) — Yesenia Acosta-Delgado is one of 2 23-year-old women who died Saturday afternoon after a wrong-way driver caused a head-on collision on Interstate 90 near George in Grant County.

Washington State Patrol said Brayan Reyes Alvarez was driving east in the westbound lanes around 2:30 p.m. when he struck another vehicle head-on. His two passengers were not wearing seat belts and died at the scene.

Emergency crews took Reyes Alvarez, 24, to Quincy Medical Center for treatment. The driver and passenger in the other vehicle, both wearing seat belts, received medical care at the scene.

Authorities identified one victim as Acosta-Delgado. Officials have not yet released the second victim’s name while they notify her family.

Investigators determined that alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. Reyes Alvarez faces a vehicular homicide charge.
